Instructor Training Course

Do you ski or ride well on all terrain? Would you like to share your love for the sport? The Hidden Valley Club Instructor Training Course (ITC) is an opportunity for you to gain the skills to understand and provide a professional snow sport lesson, while improving your own skiing or riding at the same time.

 

Our pros work with ITC participants in small groups to enhance your skiing or riding skills, while sharing methods for communicating those skills to others. Each participant will receive individual feedback and will learn how to teach the basics. If you successfully meet our training requirements, training will continue throughout your employment. New Instructors have the opportunity to shadow our mores seasoned professionals to gain confidence. We will also help you train for certification through PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America) or AASI (American Association of Snowboard Instructors). As a PSIA/AASI member school, these organizations are vital to our skiing/riding and teaching model.

 

Instructor Training Course $90 (includes coaching and lift access)

The ITC is scheduled for two sessions; January 7th and 8th, 2012 and March 3rd and 4th, 2012. Our ITC improves your skiing or snowboarding skills while giving you an overview of the Snow Sports Instructor job. information about our professional organizations and an interview and included in the process. The fundamentals of teaching beginner lessons, job requirements and an overview of daily operations are covered in the agenda. Please call 973-764-4200 to sign up.

 

Check in for the ITC begins at 8:30 am in the Base Lodge. Please be punctual and prepared to be on-snow for the entire course. The course will end at 2pm each day. Most other resort value the professional level of training you'll receive during the ITC. Participants will be awarded a certificate of completion for our training course.

Snow Sports Instructor Requirements:

  • Skiing or riding competence on all terrain
  • Friendly, helpful and professional attitude
  • Commitment of 21 days of teaching from December to March for part-time employment.
  • Black Pants, uniform jacket and contemporary ski or snowboard equipment
  • A willingness to teach children and beginners (85% of lessons)
  • A willingness to follow resort policies and procedure
  • Continuation of professional development through in-house training
