USSA Race Training Programs
Our USSA race training program at The Hidden Valley Club is an intensive program for junior racers. The athletes spend a tremendous amount of time on the mountain honing their skiing skills & race technique. Race programs begin at the J6 level, where skiers are introduced to competitions, and continue through J1, where athletes are fine tuning their skills. Athletes have the opportunity to participate in USSA sanctioned races locally through the New Jersey Ski Racing Association. These programs introduce and build racing skills for Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super-G racing. Please be aware that specific race gear is necessary for competitions and training, your coach and our Race Program Director can advise you on what your athlete's individual needs are.
Training for USSA programs is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8:30am to 2:30pm, beginning with our holiday camp, and continuing through the first week of March, weather depending.
JI and II (Ages 15 - 19)
The most focused USSA training program in New Jersey, athletes receive training in advanced race techniques by USSA certified coaches. Competition at this level takes place on a State and Regional level.
JIII (Ages 13 - 14)
This program continues the training progression of athletes racing at a USSA level. While having fun is still a strong component, the emphasis is placed on athletic fine tuning of specific racing techniques and skills. Athletes in this program begin to compete on a Regional level.
JIV - JVI (JIV Ages 11-12, JV & JVI Ages 7-10)
This program is for more advanced young athletes whose race skills are developing, while emphasizing the fun of skiing and ski racing. At this level athletes are introduced to local USSA

HIGH SCHOOL CROSSOVER
High school racers who are members of an NJISRA High School race team that wish to advance their alpine racing skills thru additional training within the more rigorous USSA program will find the crossover program a very rewarding option . All crossover athletes are required to become USSA members in order to take advantage of this additional training.

General Information
Enrollment prices are for program costs only. All participants are required to purchase an Open Access Pass. Specific race equipment is necessary and varies according to each program's training and race requirements. Racers who compete in races and travel to races at other mountains will also incur additional fees for race registrations and any personal travel costs. Junior USSA program participants who compete must also join USSA and NJSRA in order to be eligible to compete in sanctioned races.
All junior program members are required to have a United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) membership to participate in the program. USSA member ship application forms are available by visiting their website at www.ussa.org.
All race program families are asked to become a member of HVARA (Hidden Valley Alpine Racing Association), a non-profit club to help support the racers and their racing activities. HVARA is committed to providing a safe, family-oriented atmosphere with the highest quality facilities, as well as professional coaches and staff for the enjoyment of our racers and members. HVARA's aim is to develop a lifelong passion for skiing and the outdoors, while instilling a strong sense of sportsmanship, confidence, self-esteem and team spirit in our skiers.
