The Hidden Valley Racing Program is recognized as one of the longest running and most successful programs on the East Coast producing top ten ski racers on a regular basis, with many HVC racers going on to prestigious New England racing academies. Race program participants are not required to be members of The Hidden valley Club, but we highly recommend membership to enhance the experience.
The Hidden Valley Club's race program offers its participants the opportunity to achieve their highest potential as athletes and competitors, utilizing alpine training methodologies based upon USSA philosophy, tactics, & techniques. The Program is designed to give young skiers the skills they need to improve both racing skills and all-around skiing experience whether or not they compete in races. Our experienced USSA certified coaches are dedicated to providing an environment where every individual athlete has the opportunity to excel. Our athletes, parents and coaches recognize that sustained interest in the program is best served by cultivating a supportive team environment based on mutual respect as well as self -motivation.
Regardless of age or level of ability, the athletes are always encouraged to have fun! The camaraderie among racers and coaches is clear; and the love of skiing while having fun is the goal. It is no wonder that The Hidden Valley Club Race Program is one of the longest continually-running race programs in the region and is recognized as a leader in ski racing.
During the months of January and February on selected Saturdays and Sundays, the Racing Department will provide a Parent's Clinic for the parents of USSA athletes. The objective of the Clinic is to provide individual skiing instruction to the participants in the fundamentals of USSA ski racing techniques and tactics. You will learn just what your young athletes are learning, understand the terminology and help your racer be prepared as you support them this season.
The clinics will be held each Saturday and Sunday that does not conflict with a race event being held at The Hidden Valley Club. There will be a morning session (9:00am to 11:00 am) for intermediate skiers and an afternoon session (12:30pm to 2:30pm) for more advanced skiers. Each session will be limited to the first twelve registered participants. Please register in person at the Guest Services Desk, or by calling 973-764-4200. The clinics will be free to members of The Hidden Valley Club and $10 for all other participants.
Dates: January 7, 14, 15, 22, 28 and February 4, 5, 11, 18 and 19.
The format will primarily be on-snow instruction, with discussions on topics such as race day preparation (mental and physical), age appropriate equipment and tuning, parent's volunteer role and open forum discussions. As this is the first year of the program, we will be open for suggestions to make it a fun learning experience for all.
